Kitty!

Our big, fat cat is too lazy to run away from Jack, so she pretty much lets him beat her up.

Super Why?

Yesterday, Jack and I were in the master bath. He was taking everything out of my bubble bath basket by the tub. He loves being in our room, because I don't let him in there much. For those who know me well, I'm a horrible house keeper, and for Jack's safety certain parts of the house are off limits for now. Well, Jack heard Super Why playing all the on way living room television, and he took off. I couldn't help taking some pictures. Jack has been in love with this show since he was about three months old. I think it's the characters' big, googly eyes. Oh well, if he has to be in love with a television show, I'm glad he chose one about reading. :) The hubby thinks I should come up with a Super Why costume for Halloween. I'm torn; I think I want him to be something fuzzy and round while he's still little. We'll see. Anyway, here's the footage I took of him and a youtube video for those of you unfamiliar with Super Why.

Monster Baby

Jack exchanged growls with Daddy last night for at least ten minutes.

1st Birthday

Jack had a great first birthday party. He loved having everyone over. I thought all the people might overwhelm him a bit. One of my baby care books said to keep the first birthday party small and intimate. Well, with ten cousins, Jack didn't have that option. I was a little concerned because everyone showed up while he was napping. I didn't know what his reaction would be when he woke up with twenty plus people in his house. He was so happy to have everyone over. He just lit up and started crawling all over the place. He did a great job with his little cake. He even helped open some of his presents. Jack has really been enjoying his new toys the last few weeks. Everyone was so generous. Here are a few pictures of the event. If anyone else took some, please please email them to me.

Albuquerque

A few weeks back, we went to Albuquerque to visit my sister. The hubby had never seen mountains before, and neither of us had spent any time in New Mexico. Jack was wonderful. We were really concerned about the car ride, but he was a champ. I'm so glad we had the DVD player and the Baby Einstein videos. Jack had many first experiences.

And we're off!

My first time facing forward in the car seat!

My first time crossing state lines!

I offered to drive for awhile to give Daddy a break.

My first trip to the mountains.

My first time in an Indy car.

My first visit to Santa Fe.

I've been to the aquarium before, but this was my first time to actually notice the fish. Excuse the fuzzy picture.
My first trip to the botanical gardens. They had a children's fantasy garden. We felt like we were in "James and the Giant Peach" (one of mommy's favorite kid's books). They did have a huge pumpkin with seeds hanging from the ceiling. It was too fun. Daddy and I caught a ride on this ant.

My first train ride! This took us from the aquarium/gardens to the zoo.

My first trip to the zoo!

Daddy's and my first trip down route 66!

My first visit to Cadillac Ranch!

And finally, our last stop. My first visit to Palo Duro Canyon. I was too grumpy to be in the picture.

As you can see, I had lots of firsts. I think I'll take a break for a while. Maybe I'll practice this walking thing everyone keeps talking about.
