Dallas World Aquarium

Today we went to the Dallas World Aquarium. A good friend of mine recently took her son and that got me itching to go as well. I went several years ago before they added the rain forest. The hubby and I had a great time. I was intrigued by these itty bitty monkeys called pygmy marmosets. They didn't look real. Too cool! Jack wasn't as amazed as I hoped he'd be. He was more interested in his reflection in the glass and trying to escape my arms. He did love the flamingos, mainly because they were honking like crazy. He also enjoyed a little desert jackrabbit that hopped along beside him as we were strolling by his enclosure. All in all, it was a great day trip and something I'm going to highly recommend to my family.

Black Eye

Well, he finally did it. He hit the coffee table hard enough to get a good bump and a black eye. It looked awful at first, but it's calming down today. He had his big pillow under him, so I guess he thought he could just throw his head back. Little did he know the coffee table was waiting to clobber him. He cried so hard; it broke my heart. Today he sat down on one of his block so hard he bruised his bottom. What next? I probably don't want to know or he'd be wearing pads and a helmet right now. I'm glad he's adventurous and learning new things every day, but I'm going to have a nervous breakdown.

Happy Father's Day!

This is the hubby's first Father's Day, and it is well deserved. I really want to make the day special for him. He has been such a supportive husband and wonderful father. Jack and I really lucked out.

Play Ball!

Jack's new game is playing ball. He's good for a few rounds and then his attention span gives out.

Fenced In!

We recently arranged some furniture to give Jack more playing space. We pushed the couch back and brought the coffee table back in. We also added baby gates in the entry ways to the kitchen. Jack is much happier. He likes his new pseudofreedom. Here is a picture of him trying to escape and one of him looking out the sidelights he can now enjoy.

Jack Update

I realized today that it's been awhile since I update everyone on Jack's new developments.

He finally mastered his pincher grasp about a month ago and enjoys feeding himself. He loves cereal puffs and yogurt melts. Right now, he only does well with super mushy or disolvable foods. Since Jack is always up for a snack, I now find it easier to get things done in the kitchen while he's preoccupied with finger foods.

Jack started playing ball about a week ago. It's super cute. I'll try to get some pics to post soon.

Lastly, I have a tendency to say "Ta Dah!" everytime I accomplish a task around Jack, i.e. change diapers, buckle him into his high chair, and so on. Last week I put him in his high chair and said "Ta Dah!" and the little rascal said it right back. The day before yesterday he pushed his ball to me and, without being prompted, shouted "Ta Dah!" This impressed me because it shows he also knows the meaning of the phrase. One question, does "Ta Dah" qualify as his first word being that it's not really a word at all? Talk amongst yourselves.
